At 9mm this tube is commonly threaded onto 7mm or 8mm rod as a reinforcement sleeve, hinge-pin housing or lead-out fairing. The 0.5mm wall keeps the outer diameter honest where clearance to a neighbouring part is tight, while the 1.0mm version over the 7mm bore takes more of the load.
